Quick Open and project search
Deskless 3.0 is available for iPhone and iPad. Android 3.0 is in review on Google Play; Android 2.1 differences are noted.
Jump to a file
Open a folder, then choose Workspace layout → Go to File… on Apple devices or Quick Open from the Android editor menu. Type part of the file name or path and choose a result. With a hardware keyboard, use ⌘ P on Apple devices or Ctrl P on Android.
Quick Open is free. It searches file names; use project search when you need to find text inside files.
Go to Definition and find references
New in 3.0, code navigation works from the editor for supported JavaScript, TypeScript and Python files in an open project. Place the caret on a symbol, then:
| Action | Apple | Android |
|---|---|---|
| Go to Definition | ⌃ ⌘ J or ⌘-click |
F12 or Ctrl-click |
| Find References | ⌃ ⇧ ⌘ J |
Shift F12 |
| Rename Symbol | ⌃ ⌘ E |
F2 |
| Show Documentation | ⌃ ⌘ I or ⌥-click |
Command Palette |
| Quick Fix | ⌥ ⌘ . |
Command Palette |
The same actions are in the editor’s context menu and the Command Palette. Rename and Quick Fix show proposed changes for review before applying them to drafts. Quick fixes are available for JavaScript and TypeScript. Navigation is free and uses the local language tools; on Android it arrives with 3.0.
Find a command
Choose Command Palette from the same menu, or press ⌘ Shift P / Ctrl Shift P. You can also start a Quick Open query with > to switch to commands.
Search for an action such as Save, Toggle Comment or Show Git Panel. Commands depend on the active workspace and available features. The palette does not unlock Pro actions without a purchase.
Search across the folder
Project search requires Deskless Pro and an open folder.
- Choose Find in Project… from the Apple workspace menu or Find in project from the Android editor menu. The shortcut is ⌘ Shift F / Ctrl Shift F.
- Enter your search and submit it with the keyboard’s Search or Return key.
- Use Match case, Whole word or Regular expression as needed.
- Expand the include/exclude filters to narrow the search. Examples include
*.ts,src/**anddist/**; separate multiple patterns with commas. - Open a result to inspect the matching file and line.
Search includes unsaved document drafts. It skips unsupported files and has file/result limits; check any reported limits before treating the results as exhaustive.
Replace selected matches
Expand Show Replace, enter the replacement and uncheck matches you want to keep. With regular expressions enabled, $1 refers to the first capture group. Choose Replace All and review the confirmation.
Replacements update unsaved drafts, including files that were not already open. Nothing is written by the replacement operation. Review the changes, then use Save All in project search or save files individually. Undo is per document.
If the query, options, draft or file on disk changes after a search, the app can require a fresh search before replacing. Run the search again and review the new matches; stale offsets must not overwrite newer content.
For a single file, use ordinary Find or Find and Replace. On Android, Ctrl Shift F opens project search; use Ctrl H for replacement within the current file.
